It is working great. The only thing I wish is that you would sell an rearview mirror mount for it. I am having a hard time finding a place to put it where it doesn't block my vision to drive safely.
I used the Garmin Drives Martin 61 for a trip to the mountains in North Carolina and it worked wonderful. It was able to route us around accidents on our trip. We are very happy with our new Garmin. 😀
I've had a total of 7 Garmins over the past 20 years. The models with the traffic receivers are super. They have helped be avoid traffic snarls and diverted me around problems many, many times, from New York City, to Los Angeles, to Utah where I live.
I use them even for local trips where I know where I'm going so that I can avoid traffic snarls!!! I have a Gamin in every vehicle I own as well as my daughters car and our delivery truck.
For some of us, size matters. This GPS replaces one that was about 10 years old and no longer stuck to the window. This new one has stuck for 3 weeks. The graphics are clearer, and changes in speed limits show up as alerts. I love it.
This new model blows my older my older Garmin GPS model. I am still learning how to use the new features. Garmin made huge improvements on the traffic information feature. This purchase was a wise choice.
I like how easy it is to talk to my new Garmin and get to what I need so easy. I can move it from car to car. However, I will be buying more soon so I can just leave them in the vehicles. Thank you
I previously had a magellan which he has been using since his Garmin was stolen. I do like the Garmin. The voice is clear, the screen is very easy to see even in the sun. Very happy with it.
I have had a recent death of my friend of 50 years and not been able to use the Smart Drive or completely set it up. Based on my previous GPS I believe I will love having it therefore I rate it a 5 star.
I have had this for several months now and have used it for directions in 5 states and it has not let me down yet! Times and miles have always been right on so arriving at the destinations ON TIME has not been a problem. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.
I've owned a couple of Garmin GP's over the years but never one that is this good. I bought a used car with a GPS system that was out of date and I went to the car dealer to get it updated. The cost to do that was about $150 and that was not for a lifetime update, just one! I opted for the Garmin and I couldn't be happier, easy to use, large crisp clear display, features galore and lifetime map upgrades!
Works well and larger surface makes it easier to view. Brilliant colors. The voice command sometimes struggles with understanding my voice commands. Free updates are good and it connects to my wify.
This is a great GPS unit, I have been using it quite a bit. The voice commands are not as accurate as I would like it to be and sometimes its a bit hard to find an address, but this is related to spelling issues, not the unit itself. The screen is big and directions are on point, recalculating route is really fast, when linked with your phone the traffic notifications work really well as well.
I deliver cars and trucks for auto dealerships in my state and out of state. I purchased my 61 to help me when I go out of state, it has NEVER failed in getting me to my destination. I love the free lifetime updates, I have the 5 inch model, easy to see what lanes to get in to make my exits, use to use my phone and had to look down to see where I needed to go, not anymore. Easy to program and easy to use. Good investment and happy with my purchase.
Works very well. Screen is very responsive and fast. I use a stylus on it to keep down on the finger prints. Easy to update via Wi-Fi. It let's you know when there are software or map updates available. Best GPS I have ever used!
Really like this one! The screen is super clear and not much reflection from the sun like older screens. The format changed from the older ones and I'm still learning but I like it. This is also super fast turning on and traffic, almost instantaneous. It's a keeper and great price!!!
Haven't had it long enough to give it 5 stars, still learning the ins & outs. But so far it is a keeper. Wish the speaker was a little larger but it's probably OK for the average person with normal hearing.
Perfect for adventures in our VW Westfalia camper.
Needed a navigation system for our restored 1987 Westfalia Syncro. Basically a tiny house that will go just about anywhere a Jeep will, in the Wild West of the United States that means you're out of cell phone range most of the time.
The Garmin 61LMTS-S fit the bill, with a screen that's well sized for the proportions of the interior.
Replaced the ashtray with a flat plate from GoWesty, and a stick on suction cup pad for the Garmin stock mount, the install so slick it almost looks factory, doesn't block any of the view out the windshield, and easy to reach. Unfortunately, the Vanagon is so loud at highway speed that voice command only useful when stopped.
Interesting to watch how the database loads details as you need them, and impressed how much it eventually showed, including side roads little more than cow paths in some cases.
Would give 5 stars if the manual was any help at all. There's a lot a "buried" features, many not the least bit intuitive, but after a month on the road, I've got most of it to work the way I want, and rest I'll just live with unless I stumble on something.
i like it the only thing that bugs me is it always seems to always steer me a long way of course to put me on major roads even when a nice paved road that is much closer exists last week i was aware of the area and the garmin was insisting that i drive 8/10 miles out of my way that is the only thing to not like
Like the Garman but don't like being coopted when trying to register
I really, really like the Garman GPS. It is large enough to see and read. Far better than trying to navigate with a cell phone. Really pleased with the ease of software. It is intuitive so you don't have to read a 50 page manual just to use it.
However I did not like be coopted by some other service when I was trying to register this device. It was as if, "Oh, let me help you and up sale you and not let you register until you buy one of several PLANS!!!!!" I was close to sending back the Garman just so I wouldn't fall into a monthly update that I didn't want. I won't use this until more that a couple of times a year. There should be free updates available online. The purchase offer came with unlimited updates. Sooooo I persisted and the PLAN SELLER finally agreed to let me register and use the Garman for a month on a free trial. We'll see what happens next but I do not want to become supporter of monthly fees when I only want to update once or twice a year.
The unit is OK. I do not like the lack of a address book.I like the idea of clicking on to the book to locate an address and click to go. Works good for locating an address once loaded . I miss the stored address book.
