Had to buy a new GPS when I lost my old one. This one is better than my old Montana 600 Garmin. The screen is brighter and navigation through the various pages is simple and straightforward. Thx!
I had an Oregon 600. I loved it. Unfortunately, the data sync feature quit working and I could no longer import any maps. I looked for a replacement and finally decided on a 700. My main usage is mushroom hunting and hiking, so I was not really concerned with the Geocaching features. There are some small differences between the 600 and the 700, but they are easily overcome. All of my waypoints, tracks, and install maps could be transferred to my new 700. The 'refurbished' unit that I purchased was absolutely 'like new' -- couldn't tell the difference. I would absolutely recommend this GPS. I am extremely pleased with my purchase!
Very pleased! The GPS came well-packaged in a legit Garmin factory refurb box with all accessories as if brand new. Looks and works perfect! Great price. The installed map is utterly worthless for any purpose under the sun, but I'd heard that going in so I downloaded the entire U.S. topo maps for free from a non-Garmin source and they are awsome! Great little GPS with lots of features for the money, as long as you get your own maps. Trusted seller!
I ordered this item from Factory direct. It finally arrived, Unfortunately, they use Fed Ex delivery, which always adds excess delivery to my location. The unit appears to be brand new and works very well and is fast to acquire satellites. It comes with a 1 year warranty and based on this, why would I ever purchase a brand new one?? I will definitely use Factory Direct again when necessary for my gps needs.
I would certainly recommend it. Generally I only use it to mark waypoints and record tracks while metal detecting and ten tranfer the information to Google Earth. I have been able to do that successfully, but it was difficult to work out the steps. I still can't figure out how to archive tracks, but apparently I don't have to as long as I transfer them to a file in my computer system. The first thing I did when I received it was to mask it and spray paint the shell orange.
Battery life is poor. I have used alkaline, lithium, and the Garmin rechargeable battery pack. None of them last more than a couple hours. If you are going to be out all day long, take plenty of batteries along with you. Other than that it works great and is easy to use.
I cant understand the Instructions. Its not easy to work.. My Garmin 400 was much easier to work. Instruction on 400 much easier to understand. Not happy with it.
Not as good as I would have liked. The first issue is it did not record properly, which could have been my fault. The second issue is the batteries didn’t last as long as my Oregon 450 - not nearly as long. I returned the product wi the no issue from the Factory Outlet Store.
I used an Oregon 600 a lot until it died. I bought the model 700 and find that the interface has completed changed and there is quite a learning time. The old 600 had icons for waypoint, satellite, tracks, etc. and it was simple to select them. The 700 doesn't have this handy screen and one has to swipe and hunt for everything. I don't know why it has startup screens for Hike, Climb, Hunt, etc. Really unnecessary. I may sell the 700 and try to find a used 600.
