Technical Features for Garmin Compact Reactor 40 Hydraulic Autopilot

The Garmin 010-00705-07 is a Compact Reactor™ 40 hydraulic autopilot with GHC™ 20 Corepack. solid state 9-axis attitude heading reference system (AHRS). The Reactor 40 is controlled using the GHC helm control unit. This control unit communicates with the autopilot system via a NMEA 2000 bus, so autopilot heading data can easily be shared with other devices. This enables MARPA and chart overlay when connected to a Garmin chartplotter. Up to three GHC controllers can be interfaced with a single reactor 40. The Reactor 40 features patented Shadow Drive™ technology that automatically disengages the autopilot if the helm is turned, allowing the helmsman to maneuver the boat. The autopilot automatically re-engages when a steady course is held by the helmsman.

The Compact Reactor™ 40 is designed for boats less than 30’ long, and provides relief from manually holding the wheel to maintain course, especially when cruising at moderate to high speeds. When combined with compatible networked chartplotter it provides full control, from wherever you are on the boat. In addition to holding its course in virtually all weather and wind conditions, the system can smoothly perform a variety of preprogrammed trolling and search procedures.
